Sweet rosemary mac

A Rosemary is a mixed cocktail drink similar to a Martini made from whiskey and dry vermouth, served straight up and often (though not always, particularly when served in a lowball glass) garnished with a sprig of rosemary and/or lemon peel. When sweet vermouth is preferred, it is called a sweet rosemary, when Scotch Whiskey is preferred it is called a rosemary mac.

It differs from the Manhattan in its sheer simplicity and, in its original form, its use of a tumbler glass on the rocks.

Traditionally served in an old fashioned glass (also known as a lowball glass) with ice, on the Rocks, the popularity of use of the stemmed cocktail glass has resulted in the virtual abandonment of the lowball as a serving medium, with the occasional exception being the rosemary mac, which is becoming popular served on the Rocks.

Note: Much like the Martini, adjust proportions to taste.

  1. Combine whiskey and vermouth in a mixing glass with ice
  2. Stir until chilled
  3. Strain into old fashioned glass with fresh ice cubes OR a cocktail glass straight up
  4. Serve

Optional: Garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary herb.
