Description
Named for author and rakish media pundit Daedalus Howell, the Daedalian is a champagne-based cocktail that specifically uses Blanc de Noir sparkling (preferrably Gloria Ferrer) and a float of elderflower liqueur such as St. Germain and a sprig of mint. The cocktail was first served at the Girl and the Fig, a restaurant in Sonoma, CA, where Howell is newspaper columnist. Oddly, Howell, does not drink the cocktail, preferring instead to drink half-pints of beer at the lauded restaurant. Others, however, including tourists and fans of the personality, have made the Daedalian quote popular.
